HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR CONFIDENCE LEVELS?

TIP 1: MOOD BUSTER.

  • If you are in a funk and you want more confidence, music is an excellent mood buster. Music can give you an immediate boost of positive feelings and power. Create a playlist for moments when you need a lift.

Suggested activity: spend a few minutes with your painting listening to your mood busting track. Stand up, move, dance. You will get an instant rush of confidence.

TIP 2: IMPROVER MINDSET.

  • If you think you've reached your limit of talent, competence or skill - then you will be limiting your confidence too. Confidence comes from giving yourself permission to learn and improve.

Suggested activity: Discover the power of the word 'yet'. Take whatever you lack confidence in and add 'yet' at the end. E.g. rather than thinking 'I can't do this' reframe your situation as 'I can't do this YET'.

TIP 3: FUN WITH FAILING.

  • If you think you've failed, or are you're worried about failing, your confidence might have suffered too. The truth is that to get anywhere worth going, you will fail along the way.
  • Again, failing isn't a bad thing - it's how you respond to it. Reframe failing as part of learning. Accept you will make mistakes and accept that things won't always go to plan. Recognise that's okay.

Suggested activity: when you get a setback, or a failure, ask yourself 'What did I learn?' and 'How will this make me better prepared next time?'

Confidence levels will always go up and down, that's part of life. But with these three tips, you can find ways to boost your confidence when they fall.
