What inspired the artwork?
"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation." The philosopher Aristotle suggested that greatness was achieved through our daily habits. That we are 'what we repeatedly do'. While it doesn't feel like anything we do on a daily basis will have that much impact, everything we do adds up.
If you want to make positive changes in your life, but struggle to stick to the 'good habits' read James Clear's 'Atomic Habits: an easy and proven way to build good habits and break bad ones'.
This artwork is dedicated to those that want to make positive changes in their life, and recognise that takes small, consistent daily action.
The painting is itself a process of daily improvement. Created over six weeks, each new layer saw new brushstrokes and colours added. Each layer seeks to improve the composition as a whole just as our daily actions, completed with meaning, improve our lives as a whole.
On their own, the brushstrokes have little meaning. But together, they become a creative expression of habit and personal growth.
Select this art work if you want to remind yourself of your commitment to improving yourself little by little, day by day.
