WHAT DOES CONFIDENCE MEAN TO YOU?
When do you doubt yourself? Or give up? When do you wish you were bolder? Braver?
Confidence comes and goes. It's not fixed, like the colour of your eyes. It grows stronger or weaker - like your fitness levels. So, ask yourself: How could I benefit from being more confident more often? What could I achieve? What example would I be setting for others?
This lesson in living well is from the artwork: 'Confidence and You'. This painting, part of the Confidence series, was inspired by psychologist Dr. Amy Cuddy's book: 'Presence'.
Amy's TED Talk has been watched nearly 60 million times.' In it, she explores the affect body language has on how others see you, and how you see yourself. She gives us 'power posing' (think Wonder Woman) and how using this pose, for as little as 2 mins, can boost feelings of confidence, and improve your chances of success.
The lesson for living well here is: Think about your physical body as a confidence tool and be aware of how different postures change how you feel. This isn't about becoming a body builder, or strutting around like a peacock! It's being more comfortable in your own skin ('bien dans sa peau' as the French elegantly put it).
Learning in action. When you next want a confidence boost, stand like Wonder Woman for 2 mins. Legs wide. Hands on the hips. Try it!
